Transmissions from the Lost tells the story of four friends who launched a space-boat only to become trapped at the boundary of the Universe. Suspended outside the flow of time, they send out signal fragments in hopes of finding a way home.

Along the shore, participants encounter a narrative path, a series of story cards that unfold the travelers’ journey one fragment at a time. Each card offers a glimpse into the moment of departure, the entanglement at the edge of the Universe, and the ongoing search for connection across impossible distances. As viewers move from card to card, they are drawn deeper into the mystery, and closer to the installation.

The installation is giant, glowing orbs drift across the water, each one a receiver of their broken transmissions. Flickering glitches reveal heartbeats trying to reach across the void, while one orb, connected to a heartbeat sensor, blinks green in direct response to a participant’s pulse.

These orbs are giant balloons, each 6-8 feet across, filled with LEDs, sensors, and circuitry. Some carry glitching lights that mimic lost heartbeats; one listens for yours!
